Duterte leads Time magazine most influential people, beats Pope, Putin, Zuckerberg in unofficial result

Ever since seated as the 16th President of the Philippines he has already made headlines on both local and international media. Duterte is known to be a brash and a strict leader, but has a soft side when it comes to children.

Having said that, President Duterte is in the shortlist of the few most influential people in the world released by Time Magazine.

Duterte has attracted global attention due to his war on drugs campaign, a call that invited heavy scrutiny from international human rights groups due to Duterte's questionable proclamations regarding some issues.

President Duterte is joined by personalities like Pope Francis, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Beyoncé, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Bill Gates, US Senator Bernie Sanders, Simone Biles, Serena Williams, and the co-chairs of the Women's March, Linda Sarsour, Tamika Mallory, Carmen Perez, and Bob Bland to complete the top 10.

As of Sunday morning, Duterte leads the poll with 4%. TIME said its editors will choose the final list of honorees, but it wants the readers to share their choices.
